the gist: the law of averages is brutal
alrighty. first of all: this is unreal. sept 1–13: 1.53M views. +793 followers. i'm 25 days into posting for real, REALLY going for it. i don't know everything. but i'm starting to get the tiniest glimpse of how this game is played. the biggest insight? the devastating law of averages. i post about 8 pieces of content a day. the goal is for ONE to pop off. sometimes not even that happens. last friday, the reel that made it to my feed hit 43K. every other video i posted still lives in trials. dead. winner: 43,000 views maaaaaaybe flops #2 and #3 see daylight after a re-record. there was almost traction. but realistically, those 7 will live out their days in the trial reels graveyard. so my current skillset is: maybe 1 in 8 videos does well. 12.5%. which is brutal for a girl's ego. especially since i give myself fully to all 8. but until i'm good enough that every video crushes, it's 8 videos a day. and i'm trying to figure out how to do more. because more output = more learning. think about it: if i posted 1 a day, i'd hopefully get one pop-off every 8 days. posting 8 a day, i'm going for one pop-off daily. the law of averages is real. it's brutal. and it's just what learning anything new looks like. so here i am. learning. ◼
the part i almost cut: the other reason for the volume: i am always SHOCKED by which video pops. if you made me guess which of the 8 would win, i would guess wrong. every single time. i'm reminded daily that i don't have 0% idea what i'm doing — but maybe 1%.
here's the part that actually gets me. i was stuck at 7,650 followers for six years. as of writing this: 8,616. my dead account is revived. we're back in the game, baby. good luck to all of you going for it. volume, volume, volume. LAW OF AVERAGES. ◼
