2 more vids popped off

the gist: my hypothesis is working

i am RELIEVED to report that my social media hypothesis is working. it could absolutely break tomorrow. but today? we won.

the hypothesis isn't even mine. it's a bunch of different people's strategies frankenstein'd together.

it comes down to three rules.

1. if something works, do the same thing.

i have a video at 250K views about how rad my husband is. i'm lying in bed. there's a written hook. i share a photo of my postpartum body.

so today i made another video about how rad my husband is. lying in bed. same written hook. postpartum photo.

it popped. 18.2K views as of typing.

2. if something works, do the same thing but more specific.

i had a video at 79.2K about what to expect after running a marathon.

so today i made one about what to expect within 10 minutes of running a marathon.

also popped. 32.1K as of typing. still a trial reel so can't link quite yet.

3. if you couldn't turn it into a series, don't make it at all.

this is the one i'd tattoo on my arm.

because what i don't want is to make a video, watch it pop, and then have no idea how to make the next one.

and i really don't want to accidentally get famous for something i know nothing about. or care nothing about.

◼
the part i almost cut: i am insane and starting something new is such a head game. i posted 8 trial videos today. none popped immediately. thirty minutes later — still slow. so i stopped working, put my phone away, and spent the afternoon outside with my kids. came back. both pops had happened while i was gone. i am dramatic. i am deeply "woe is me" about a thing that was, at all times, fine.

one more finding: the biggest factor in my winning videos is using visuals to explain my story or my findings.

which honestly bodes well, because my brain only thinks in frameworks and diagrams.

happy to hear people like it. i genuinely don't know how to think any other way.

same time tomorrow: why i want to be an ~influencer~ instead of an expert

we just keep getting better,

I WANT ALL THE BABIES AND ALL THE MONEY.

My from-h@#$ pregnancies killed my $2.12M business and my client list with Tony Robbins on it. This time, everything gets built "pregnancy-proof," so my life and business thrive on 60 min/day. Steal the playbook as I build it.

maria wendt's ig follower ad strategy

◼ the gist: verdict is still out alright. maria wendt has an instagram ad strategy that goes like this: post organic content if it pops, run ads to it now that content keeps bringing you followers long after the algorithm stops you're essentially making your highest-converting content evergreen. i LOVE this. it feels very pregnancy-proof — pieces from a year ago could still bring me followers, cheap. maria's team is acquiring followers for $0.50–$1.00. which is great, especially if you're...

i didn't want to but i did

◼ the gist: my crying prayer maybe this is TMI. sharing it anyway. i recently posted a video about miscarriage. i didn't want to. i felt prompted by God to do it, so i did. it blew up. 72.3K views. then God put it heavier on my heart to talk about miscarriage. 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and somehow we still don't know how to talk about it. i guess everyone also eventually dies and we don't know how to talk about that either. trauma is just hard. then a memory of miscarrying came...

update: 1.53M views in last 2 weeks

◼ the gist: the law of averages is brutal alrighty. first of all: this is unreal. sept 1–13: 1.53M views. +793 followers.aug 17–31: 13,375 views. -1 follower. i'm 25 days into posting for real, REALLY going for it. i don't know everything. but i'm starting to get the tiniest glimpse of how this game is played. the biggest insight? the devastating law of averages. i post about 8 pieces of content a day. the goal is for ONE to pop off. sometimes not even that happens. last friday, the reel that...
